The Great Optimisation Myth
- The Great Optimisation Myth: Why Beginners Can’t Optimise What Doesn’t Yet Exist
- Why You Don’t Need to Be Everywhere to Succeed Online
- What Real Optimisation Looks Like (When You’re Ready)
Once I accepted that I didn’t need to optimise everything immediately, I encountered another temptation.
Expansion.
A new platform.
Another social network.
Another traffic source.
Another tool.
Another course.
It all sounded productive.
The problem was that I was trying to grow sideways before I had grown forwards.
Every new commitment required time.
Every new platform demanded attention.
Every new strategy pulled me away from the work I had already begun.
Eventually I realised that progress isn’t simply about doing more.
It’s about continuing what already deserves your attention.
For beginners, consistency is often a greater advantage than variety.
Publishing one thoughtful article each week usually teaches more than beginning five different projects and finishing none of them.
The internet constantly encourages us to expand.
Experience quietly teaches us to consolidate.
Every stage of the journey has its own priorities.
In the beginning, the priority is to build.
Not to optimise everything.
Not to be everywhere.
Simply to keep building.
Looking back, I don’t think my business grew because I was everywhere.
I think it grew because I kept returning to the same important work.
Sometimes the best way to move forward isn’t by adding something new.
It’s by continuing what you’ve already started.
Because before you expand…
…you first need something worth expanding.
