Getting Your Own Micro Influencer

Your Next Move

Sticking to our original three niches from the previous post, Micro Influencers For You (beauty; fitness and health; fashion), let’s outline what your plan would look like. You’re in no way restricted by these three niches. If you recall, we chose these niches for their popularity and lucrativeness and, in the first place, as illustrative examples.

Your actual plan, in your actually chosen niches may look different.

The plan presented here, in this post, is illustrative. It’s also generic: it can be applied to a wide range of situations — to give you flexibility.

Your 5-Step Plan

To reiterate a point emphasised in the previous post, the defining characteristic of a micro influencer is their authenticity –this is what we want to leverage in order to gain access to their loyal followers. What that means is that their followers become our followers — legitimately.

For each of three niches mentioned above, these are the steps you can take to develop your strategy

Step 1

Search for micro influencers in your chosen niche using tools such as AspireIQ; Upfluence; HyperAuditor

Step 2

After identifying the micro influencers in their respective niches, find out what their level of connection is with their audience. Do the micro influencers’ and their audience’s interests correspond with yours?

Step 3

Once you have assessed that, reach out to them, expressing your interest. Outline why you think they might be interested in reciprocating — it’s a partnership, remember? Your opening gambit could be: aligned values. Emphasise that. Build your narrative around it. Provide some proofs — these could be at this stage your expressed values, what you stand for and how you see this reflected in the micro influencer’s posts. Provide specific examples from their own material and explain why and how they appeal to you. This is also where you personalise your own message. Be genuine — that’s the most powerful message.

Step 4

Nurture that relationship actively, once you’ve initiated it. That means interacting with your micro influencer regularly.

Step 5

Rinse and Repeat. Move to the next micro influencer on another social media platform. Diversify. Never put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify. Keep moving.
